Glaucoma is a disease which is usually painless but can gradaully lead to progressive vision loss. Most patients would never know they had glaucoma unless they went for regular eye exams. Every one of our patients are screened for glaucoma by assessing the appearance of the optic nerve and an eye pressure measurement. We perform an extensive battery of tests on patients found to be glaucoma suspect. This battery may include the following…
- Automated Humpherey visual field testing to measure any pattern of vision loss
- Gonioscopy to evaluate the eye's drainage mechanism
- Pachymetry to measure corneal thickness
Our doctors treat glaucoma with eye drops and refer patients out to eye surgeons if necessary.
